The firm was established by Stanley Taylor in 1956. Ken Robertson became a partner in 1970, to be followed by Charles Willett in 1985 and then Neil Slater in the summer of 2002.
Throughout its history the firm has endeavoured to provide a highly personalised service for its clients, large and small alike. Our strengths are our expertise in dealing with the business, finance and taxation affairs of privately owned companies, partnerships and individuals. We have experience of charities, guarantee companies, co-ops, clubs and friendly societies.
We are registered as auditors by the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. As registered auditors we are able to provide the annual statutory audit. We can also perform ad hoc audits. We can review companies' controls and procedures, highlighting weaknesses and suggesting improvements.
The continuing expansion of the firm means that, although still very much a general practice, specialist areas of expertise can be accommodated following selective recruitment of staff and an ongoing training programme.
The firm's objective continues to be to provide best advice with a personal and professional approach. Our provincial cost-base gives us a significant competitive advantage over city-based firms.
Our philosophy has been rewarded by the continued steady growth of the firm over its 35 year plus existence. Our advertising overhead is somewhere between small to non-existent, relying as we do on referrals.
We have invested in modern information technology to automate as far as possible compliance work. We are committed to ensuring that our services are provided in the most cost efficient professional manner employing "state of the art" technology.
